Inheriting the Cooperative Legacy

Sunday, June 8th, 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM
Room 344

Modern day cooperatives are having an ever-growing impact on our local, regional and national economy and this is not by chance. This session will serve as an introduction to the cooperative business model, its history, principals, and unique sectoral permutations.  We'll look at how North America's diverse landscape of worker co-ops, consumer co-ops, producer co-ops, credit unions, and various hybrids came into being, how they can create opportunities in a more democratic and sustainable economy, and current efforts to bring cooperativism to scale.
